Week 45 and the 100th post!

School is out but there are still end of the year stuff to finish. I had a training to attend and garrett is trying to clean his classroom while attending trainings in between. I cannot believe that we made it through the school year. It has been an amazing journey this year and I cannot wait to celebrate his first birthday. We are trying to finalize some details before we leave for california. Nothing big, just food and friends.

A funny story that I forgot to share in last week's post. Garrett was getting the bath ready for Gideon and I was getting Gideon ready for the bath. Currently, he likes to hold the side of the bath and stand up. It's just his size. Well, he was without a diaper and holding the side of the tub. (we were filling up the whole tub not just his baby tub.) Gideon wanted to reach into the tub for toys or to touch the water. I do not know. Anyway, he touched the warm water and relieved himself onto the bathmat. Hmm... hand in warm water really does work. =)

Gideon's present to Garrett for Father's day was a Mega blocks construction set. Gideon didn't like to wear the construction hat but he did like this hat. =)

On Wednesday, Gideon reached another milestone. Enjoy the video!

Only video post!

Garrett and I have been trying to capture the little fun moments on video. Sometimes Gideon performs and other times he just crawls away. His personality is starting to come out more and more each day.

So this is Gideon talking during breakfast. He is more chipper and responsive in the morning than the late afternoon. I wonder where he gets that from. =)

Gideon likes the wind in his face. Just like what Grandpa Wong would say, hairstyle, "blown by the unseen wind."

We brought up a new toy to his play mat. It's a toy that balls travel through tunnels to the bottom of the play structure. Gideon found a new way to play with it though.

Week 44

So this week has been hectic and crazy. Also, it's the last full week of school. Many students were super excited and couldn't really focus for longer than twenty minutes at a time. I had to make more activities that were short and sweet instead of one long activity over a longer period of time. I'm just glad that Monday will be the last day of school. I am ready for summer vacation!

This week had two unexpected things happen. Gideon got a fever and a cold which led to an awful cough. We visited the doctor on Wednesday and on Saturday to check out his lungs and his breathing. During the night, he would feed and then cough up all the milk that was in his stomach. We did laundry in the morning. I just laid a blanket on top of the yucky spit up for him to sleep on. Then on Tuesday, Santa Maria (our '92 Acura Legend) decided to overheat and spray yucky stuff inside the hood. Our friends let us park the car in front of the house until we can figure out a plan after school gets out. Thanks, Kym and Yosh! We don't have a plan yet but we are busy with end of the year school activities and a sick Gideon to think of an action plan just yet.

A couple of weekends ago, Gideon had a play date with Nathaniel, baby boy of our friends for the Seattle U. MIT program. They had a grand old time playing, eating and playing some more. Nathaniel's mom sent me some photos of them. They are adorable!

Last but not least, the weekly photo! Thanks Kym and Yosh for the awesome T-shirt!

Week 43

School will be out in one more week! Woohoo for summer break! This is probably the first time where I felt I needed the break more than the students. I can't wait to be with Garrett and Gideon all summer long!

This week, Gideon is practicing his standing skills while holding on to the couch, the chair, the coffee table, anything at his height. He is working hard on trying to find balance. There were a couple of times he would let go and just stand for a millisecond. We don't have a video of that just yet, but we hope soon. We did get a couple of fun videos.

His weekly picture was inspired by his bedhead. It was amazing! The first few pictures were blurry so these were the best. I love his hair. It looks like it's time for another haircut. Two haircuts in one year!

The first video is titled "Curious Gideon" because he was exploring a new texture. hahahaha....

The second video is my attempt to record Gideon making the farting noise with his mouth. Once I got the camera out he stopped doing it. So the video is just his face mostly with just one account of the noise.

10 months

I cannot believe that Gideon is 10 months old (week 42). The time has really gone by super quick. This week Gideon learned how to scratch his arm really well that he got an infection. At first, we thought he was just scratching to just practice his new finger motor skills. Nope, we were wrong. The dry skin became a bigger rash and then a full-blown red rash that was oozing. We had been putting lots of lotion and hydro-cortisone ointment, but it did not work. So we went to the doctor's office on Saturday morning. The doctor quickly prescribed three different ointments to minimize the itch, treat the infection and for future rashes. He said that Gideon might have eczema and we should just watch out for future rashes. Gideon was really good in scratching his arm. The rash is on his right arm so he would use his left arm to scratch. When we would hold his left arm to stop him from scratching, he would rub his right arm on the chair/blanket/towel to continue the scratch.

This week we have been trying to give Gideon more finger foods for him during meal time. He loves tofu, carrot cubes and radish cubes. We made catfish nuggets for Gideon to eat. He also tried smashed up mushrooms and loved it. Well, currently, he loves everything. He doesn't seem to have a stop button when he is eating. When our friends watched Gideon so that Gar and I could watch a SIFF film, they noticed that Gideon would continue to eat if you give him more. Yup, that's our son. Gideon also tried a tamale from the tamale man at our favorite produce store. Yes, he loved that too! He also tried plain Cheerios for the first time.

Falling, pulling himself up, and eating seaweed!

Just as promised, three new videos. The first one was a quick one since we were trying to get the video of Gideon using the toy as Thor's hammer. He stopped once the camera turned on and fell backwards.

The second video is of Gideon climbing up on my legs to stand up. If you watch it till the end, you will see booger bubbles.

The third video, courtesy of Gar, is Gideon eating seaweed with background music, Marvin Gaye. It's a little long, but if you are Auntie Jaime, you want to watch it over and over again.
