Week 24: a cold and teething

Sorry about the delay. Gideon came down with a cold this week and we had to take time off work to take care of the little guy. He had a fever, a runny nose and a cough that sounded awful. He has been teething and two little teeth are trying to come out which means he has been fussy. Thank goodness for some pain reliever.

I also took a picture of Gideon in the exosaucer to compare with the December picture of his first time in it. He has grown up so much in two months. The weekly picture has been still challenging. When I put him on the couch with the lion, he lunged for the lion and starting to put it in his mouth.

Week 23

Gideon is getting so big. I cannot believe how fast he is growing up. Once again with the weekly photo, Gideon is moving around and not wanting to stay still. Here are the best photos.

Random photos

Just a couple of photos that I uploaded but didn't share yet. Last weekend, Gideon met Elmo for the first time. You can imagine what he was thinking about.



Also, Gideon met his friend, Noa, for the first time while awake. They are one day apart and both love to eat.



Gideon usually sleeps in a swaddle. On the 2 hour delay school day due to snow, Gideon took his morning nap at home rather than at daycare. He fell asleep before I could swaddle him. He slept like this for about 45 minutes. We found out that he naps at daycare without a swaddle and today, for the first time, he somehow rolled over from back to tummy during his nap to sleep. He is a tummy sleeper like his mom.

Week 22, chicken dumplings and crazy hair

I guess I have a once a week blogger now that I am working full time. It has been a learning experience of what is important, what can wait and what needs to be done so that I won't go insane. Blogging has been fun and relaxing because I get to review all the pictures that we take to finalize which ones should be posted. It's also a way for me to keep my California family and friends in the loop. Gideon will know all your names and faces even before he meets you. We have pictures posted in his bedroom and in the kitchen. =)

So with the weekly pictures, it is harder and harder to keep him still. He wants to move and he wants to sit up. He can't sit up on his own. He leans up and then forward. Slowly he starts to tip over from the waist down and he can't stop himself. So that is what we were working with in this week's picture. Thanks Carolyn and Christian for the great outfit. I can pop my collar!





You may be wondering why chicken dumpling is in the title of this week's post. Gideon has large feet and hands. He moved from a 0-3 month shoe to a 6-12 month shoe in his fourth month. The problem is not the length of his foot but the puffiness of his foot. Garrett has a loving term of endearment for Gideon's feet. He calls them chicken dumplings. "Stop moving your chicken dumplings." "Your chicken dumplings are looking quite large today." "I want to eat your chicken dumplings." So we took a picture with a Ling Ling chicken dumpling. Again, he was moving too much. This was the best shot.



Gideon has crazy hair. He has had a full head of hair since birth and it has kept growing. The bald spot that many babies have in the first few months did not happen for Gideon. He had such long hair that he had a comb over to mask over the thinning areas. Yes, a comb over. Garrett and I are lamenting about cutting his hair. We might just trim the rat tail that he has been growing and that should be enough. So this is how much hair he has. I combed it out so you can see the full length!

The New Year

So it is now 2011 and six days later, I am finally making a post. Well, I have to make a post about Gideon's week 21/5 months picture. The Chan household is still getting used to waking up early and going to work. Having two weeks off in December was amazing. It was nice to have the whole family home just hanging out and spending time together.

Just recently Gideon has been laughing more often and usually at Gar's expense. Gar can make him laugh quite easily. We were able to catch it on video. It's a super cute video.

Below are Gideon's week 21 pictures and a fun one. Gideon is working hard on sitting up by himself. He likes it so much that he usually leans forward during most pictures now with the lion. He has a strong core. He can lift his head and legs off the floor while on his back and stay there for a while. Sometimes, he rolls to the side in that position. We are still waiting for the with clothes roll over. =)
