Week 50

We returned home to our cousin, Megan visiting from CA and other not-so-fun news, stolen mail. Other than that, we are blessed to return from a wonderful vacation visiting family and friends. We miss every one of you but we know that we will be visiting soon, plus we have skype. Video chat anyone?

Just a quick post and then other posts will slowly come out. Here is Gideon at 50 weeks. I just figured out that we are off by a week since this should be his fifty-first week and next week is the fifty-second week, his one year birthday. Oh well, we are just off and that's ok.

Week 48 and 49

It's a late post so there are two weekly photos in this one. The stories will come in the next post since we have been visiting so many people here in California. I can't believe that he will be one in three weeks!

11 months (Week 47)

It has been a whirlwind of a week, especially with the packing and traveling to sunny California. We made it in safely to many friendly faces who welcomed us all back, especially Gideon. He did well on the airplane ride. He liked looking at the lady sitting behind us. I believe it is because she looked a little like Aunt Patty, his daycare provider.

Since we have arrived, Gideon is adapting to sleeping in warmer weather, sleeping in different locations (room, hotel room, on a bed) and meeting so many new faces. He also had his second haircut with my cousin, Betty. I scheduled it too close to his naptime so he was not the best client but Betty was very patient and thinned out his hair for the summer weather.

Garrett and I joined my family to watch the production of Billy Elliot in San Francisco. It was amazing. I loved it and I think that Garrett wasn't bored out of his mind. Thanks to Uncle Dustin and Auntie Valene for watching Gideon so we can enjoy this great show! Gideon played with them and ate a big snack too!

Now, I am getting ready for my teaching conference in Las Vegas. I leave today and return on Friday. This will be my first time away from my boys for longer than a day. I know that Garrett and Gideon will have a fantastic time together, but I will miss them a lot! So Garrett will be stay-at-home dad for the week. Maybe he will write the next weekly post!

Until next time!

Gideon reading

Just a quick post of a cute video. There is a lot of background noise, but it's amazing how Gideon is learning about books and reading at his age.

Week 46

We are finally into the swing of summer break. Uncle Martin is visiting from California. We are getting ready to fly down to California next week. We are finalizing more details for Gideon's first birthday. I feel that sometimes I sleep less during vacation or break than when I am working.

We started off the week with a playdate with Xavier and Xavier's mom (Tin). They introduced us to Kid's Quest in Factoria Mall. Xavier has been there before so he was walking around to all the areas. Gideon was satisfied with the box of balls or following other little kids around. We will have to go there again sometime.

Gideon tried poi for the first time at Kauai Family restaurant in Georgetown. He liked it a lot. He kept wanting more, even after the first bite. I don't know what he thought about the taste. I think he was just hungry. Then I helped him eat his foot. =) He was getting fussy so I thought this would distract him.

We continued our fun summer vacation by watching "Bad Teacher" at Lincoln Square. Probably not an appropriate movie to watch with Gideon. He fell asleep halfway through the movie. Teacher jokes, faculty meetings and of course Cameron Diaz's multi-media teaching style, aka watch a movie, made me laugh out loud! We went to Din Tai Fung afterwards for some Shanghai-style dumplings. Gideon liked the fish ones best.

Weekly photo is dedicated to all those CAL Berkeley alums out there!
