It has been a weird work week since we only worked two of the five days. No complaining here. It just means that we spend more time with Gideon. Unfortunately we do have to make up the snow day in June and now we end the school year on Monday. Hmmm... could I bring Gideon to work on the last day of school for 2 hours?
Anyway, Gideon has been eating new solids this week and continuing with the solids that he already likes. He is eating avocado, butternut squash and apples. Thanks to the awesome gift from Grandpa and Grandma Wong and Auntie Jaime! We love the Beaba! More pictures to come.
While skyping with Auntie Jaime, Gideon ended up in between the couches. He was wearing his fuzzy bear pants that picked up dust as easily as a Swiffer. Thanks, Gideon, for dusting for us! He was moving a lot so the picture is blurry.
Gideon is a yoga natural. Instead of army crawling, he is learning to strengthen his core muscles first by doing the plank. He pushes on his hands like a push-up and has a flat back. We are so proud.
Also the cute weekly picture. I just went through his clothes this past weekend and found a few items that he has not worn and he might outgrow very soon. That is why he is dressed up on a weekday, popping his collar. =)

Week 27 and first haircut
Taking Gideon's picture with the lion has become a two man job. One person to take the picture and the other person to dance and sing around to get Gideon to look at the camera. He is getting so big and now he is looking older and older. This picture was taken pre-haircut. He is also wearing his new shoes, apple and pear shoes from Grandma Wong.
So onto the first haircut. We gave him a bath first because his hair has accumulated dirt, dust and boogers. We wanted to keep a lock of his hair from the first haircut. Gideon did very well during the haircut while Papa meticulously used the scissors. Garrett has awesome skills!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Things to do after Valentine's day has passed: post the pictures and buy valentine cards for next year. =)
This Valentine's day marked a big milestone, 10 years ago, Gar and I started dating and now we get to celebrate it with Gideon. We had a relaxing evening, making fried tilapia fillets and steamed bok choy. Garrett and I used to make meals together but after Gideon's birth, we just didn't make the time. So we are making more of an effort to cook and share a meal together at the same time.
So we took some pictures of Gideon in his valentine's outfit. There is also a cute pic of his two teeth.
Garrett is a proud papa. He loves spending time with Gideon, playing and laughing. He is even thinking about future father-son times. Look at Gideon and his first Valentine's day present!

Week 26
Time flies. Parents told us this statement many times when I was pregnant. I didn't believe them until now. Gideon is now almost one year old. Yes, I know that it is months away but it feels like days from now.
Taking his weekly picture has been more challenging each week. He loves to sit forward and attack the lion stuffed animal. I had to take like 10 pictures to get the one. It reminds me of the joke I used to laugh about with Jaime and Dustin. "I'm an African brain sucker..." hahahah
Uncle Martin, Uncle Howard and Auntie Bik were in town last week for Ashley's birthday. We met a couple of times to hang out and eat. Thank you to Kristie, we were able to get a family photo at Cheeky Cafe. Thank you to Abe for getting Gideon's attention.
We attended a superbowl party at our friend's house with Gideon in tow. He was cheering on the Packers with everybody else. During halftime, Kristie was strengthening her arm muscles for volleyball spikes with Gideon.
As I am writing this blog post, I am watching Gideon trying to fall asleep for the night. Now that he can roll over, we are waiting for the moment when he turns on his tummy to sleep. He just rolled over and is in the upward dog pose. I think he has surprised himself. He puts his head down for a little while to sleep and then it's upward dog pose. He is also perpendicular in the crib. I don't know how he gets into those positions so quickly.

Rolling over on video
Recently Gideon has been rolling over randomly and not consistently. He would lay there and just smile. Within the past couple of days, he has been rolling over whenever we put him down. This evening was the first time I was able to catch it on camera. Garrett made dinner tonight so I went over to play with Gideon. I found him on his tummy playing with his toy elephant. It's not a good video but you can hear how hard he is working; he tooted. =)(It looks like Gar is helping him but he didn't. It's ALL baby g.)

Videos
Just a couple of fun videos for you to watch. Enjoy!
Gideon is using his arms more often. He looks like he is flying and blowing bubbles.
This is Gideon's first video of eating rice cereal.

Week 25 (6 months), chinese new year and spoon feeding!
This week marks Gideon's half birthday. He is 6 months old. I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by. Gideon is halfway to being one year old. Wowzers! So on February 3rd, it was Chinese New Year and also the day that I take baby G's weekly picture. I found a red sweater with an American flag on the front. I decided to put it backwards on baby G so that it looks like a red sweater. =)
Gideon received his first red envelopes. He didn't know what to do with them for the first 2 seconds. Then he grabbed them with his hands and tried to put them into his mouth.
He also got his 6 month shots on Wednesday. He was a trooper. He just cried for a little bit after the needle went in. I think that he is observing what the doctor's office looks like. He is a super baby.
Gar and I are truly blessed with Gideon. We couldn't have asked for more wonderful son. We tried feeding him rice cereal from a spoon. I gave Gideon the choice of six different colored spoons. He chose the yellow one. =) He loved eating and swallowing. He kept grabbing my hand for more.
