Week 57

The school has kicked off and the Chan family has been trying to get back into the groove. We were grateful for Labor Day holiday so that we could spend a day together. We had a picnic at Alki. It was a beautiful day.



We have an empty bucket that we bought from Home Depot for the new mailbox. We didn't need it so Garrett plays basketball with Gideon. The basket is the bucket and Gideon stands in the bucket. It's quite funny. I don't have a video but it's a cute father-son moment.





Thanks to Auntie Kristie for Gideon's outfit for this week. I tried to take a picture to highlight the shirt that says "Year of the Tiger", but Gideon was super squirmy that morning. (He's a morning bird like his mama.) He also had residue raspberry yogurt around his mouth. Enjoy!

I didn't know that Garrett liked this video. I thought I had to get his permission before posting it. He said that it would have a made it on America's Funniest home videos. It's hilarious! Enjoy! =)

Just video post

We love playing with Gideon because he has been so responsive. He loves to repeat what you say and copy what you did. He also loves to hold his tools, one in each hand. Garrett said that he saw Gideon cruising on the couch while holding onto the tools. He used his stomach for balance. We didn't catch that on video, but we hope you like them.

Week 56

School has started and the Chan family is trying to stay on top of everything. Gideon is learning to sleep earlier so that he wakes up earlier. Gar and Shiv are trying to balance work and family now that our schedules are full during the weekdays. So, that means that weekly posts may be later or may be shorter than usual. I haven't even blogged about Gideon's birthday parties yet. I will soon.

My school has become an AVID elementary school. It focuses on helping students be organized and prepared for college. As a staff, we wore college shirts to one of our staff meetings. I dressed Gideon in his UW gear and Garrett decided to wear his shirt too. So what should we do now? Take a family photo with the tripod. Enjoy the multiple shots.







Gideon's weekly picture is dedicated to Auntie Maria who loves lobsters. If you look carefully, the lobster has googly eyes. =)

Week 55

I like counting in weeks. =) I guess I can call this post: 1 year and 3 weeks. I cannot believe how big Gideon is getting. He is also becoming more adventurous and curious about his surroundings. He no longer stays in a specified area and gets into our things. Garrett endearingly calls Gideon, Captain Destructo. Here are a couple of examples.

There is a bookshelf next to Gideon's crib. He is able to reach over and grab what is on the right side of the bookshelf. This is what I found after a nap. Gideon holding his saline solution and nasal aspirator on the mattress.



Garrett went to PAX and brought me back a paper crown. Guess who ripped it? It was not Garrett or me. =)



The birthday cupcake balloon has been slowly deflating over the past few weeks since his birthday. It hovers the ground more often than the ceiling now. This is what Gideon decided to do to it with his mouth.





He tore it open and pulled out a piece of balloon from his mouth. Barbarian!

It was super hot this past week and weekend. So we dressed him in his cut off shirt and basketball shorts that look like capris. Enjoy his weekly picture!

Garrett fell asleep while I was watching netflix. His sleeping reminded me of someone.

California Adventure

Our first california adventure was Gideon's second salon haircut. My cousin, Betty, a fantastic hair stylist in San Francisco, was kind enough to cut Gideon's hair. It was the best time for us but maybe not the best time for Gideon, aka too close to his nap time. Betty did an amazing job layering his hair for maximum cool relief. It's growing out very nicely and it's not too long just yet for his next haircut.





The next adventure was going to a swimming pool for the first time. I wanted to make sure that Gideon went to an outdoor pool and not an indoor pool for his first time. He liked the water and he was very interested in the kids nearby. He splashed the water towards the end.





The next adventure was family photo times. There were many of them. Our first fun picture was matching T-shirts from Auntie Jaime.
